Adventures in Surfing
This month I wanted to share my adventures in surfing.
I am not going to write about the tides, the rips, and the places to go, because honestly…. I’m not that good! (Ok, the tides are great, the rips can sometimes be quite strong, and there are some unbelievable spots to surf down here.)
I have graduated from white water and have broken the outside waves (but just barely), and consistency would not be in my vocabulary as of yet.
This is what I do know about the whole surfing thing: It is an amazing sport and the place to do it (or learn to do it) is definitely Dominical. Just to ensure everyone can clearly see me fall, I’ve custom ordered an 8ft hot pink board. I can also be spotted on the waves regularly with my surf instructor Whitney.
I met Whitney, proprietor of a fantastic little surf school that primarily caters to women wanting to learn, and I’ve had a ton of fun since. We drive up and down the coastline spying the best places to go practice. It is just an unbelievable feeling when you learn to get up and actually “surf”. We are usually in the water for a couple of hours, and subsequently, I am in the best shape I have ever been in!
A few of our clients (and their kids) are surfers, and I now find myself the proud babysitter of three boards (don’t worry guys, I am not using them). If you ever need any advice on great instructors, upcoming competitions or tide charts please always feel free to drop me a line.

Road Sign of the times.
The road north, linking Dominical to Manuel Antonio National Park and Quepos Airport is officially being repaired – meaning, the most significant event affecting access and property values in Dominical has begun. Last week the H. Solis road building company had over fifty dump trucks and assorted machines working to build the new highway.
This road means big things – Manuel Antonio National Park is the largest tourist attraction in the country and eventually we will be just 30 minutes by car on a scenic highway route bringing exponentially more visitors to the pristine southern coast of Costa Rica. As Dominical becomes more accessible, we’re working hard to ensure that the pristine nature of this place remains intact - approximately 80% of the land owned by Punta Dominical will remain undeveloped.

Dominical View Lots – Coming Very Soon.
A small number of view lots, sitting on a beautiful rainforest ridge above the town of Dominical and the Baru River will soon be available for purchase. We can’t say a lot more yet, but details will be forthcoming.
Current Punta Dominical owners will have 1st opportunity to purchase. Prices are expected to start in the mid- $100,000s. Contact Tina Wallace directly at (011) 506-812-8339 for information.

Coast Magazine - PONDERING THE PLUNGE IN COSTA RICA
Charm, luxury and stability make this developing nation a wise ownership option
BY BILL FINK
“Vaya con dios,” said my guide. “Go with God.” He then pushed me off of a platform 50 feet above the ground in the midst of a Costa Rican jungle.
Fortunately, I was attached to a cable with a pulley, and I safely zipped 100 yards across a clearing to another deck. I had the same sort of feeling when I was considering purchasing a vacation home in Costa Rica.
