Getting Ready for the Holidays.

Stewart Winter & Tina WallaceThis will be my second Christmas in Costa Rica, however this year I’m doing it right.  After a quick shopping trip in San Jose, my villa at Canto del Mar is starting to look quite festive. I have the palm tree at my entrance covered in white lights and holiday baubles will be ready to greet my mother as she arrives for a holiday visit.

Considering the 8 inches of snow that fell this week in Vancouver, Canada (my previous home), I’m looking forward to Christmas at the beach once again.

This month, I wanted to introduce my business partner, Stewart Winter, to those of you have not had the chance to meet him in Dominical.  Stewart is also originally from Vancouver, but has worked all over North America selling and marketing resort real estate.  After heading up the marketing for Playground – an Intrawest company, in the Western USA for resorts like Mammoth Mountain, Squaw Valley, Lake Tahoe, Solitude and Lake Las Vegas, he started his own company marketing resort communities throughout British Columbia.  About a year ago I convinced him to visit me in Dominical and now he’s bringing his resort expertise to help market and sell the Punta Dominical portfolio.

We hope you’ll stop by the Punta Dominical office to say hello to both of us next time you’re in town.

The American Music Awards and HBO Comedy Festival
Select Kiana Resorts.

HBO Comedy Festival
This November, the famed and highly coveted back stage gift baskets for the presenters and winners at the American Music Awards and HBO Comedy Festival included a gift certificate to stay at Kiana Resorts in beautiful Dominical.

Many celebrities were captivated by the promise of pristine nature and the relaxed atmosphere of Dominical and we look forward to hosting them in the coming year.

Celebrities who requested a Kiana certificate included: Ray Romano, Catherine O’Hara, Vanessa Williams, Barry Manilow, Steve Shirpa of The Sopranos, Jesse Martin of Law & Order, Isaiah Washington of Grey’s Anatomy and many more, some of which are pictured here.

The Green Season.

Some smart marketer has coined the term ‘Green Season’ and I have even heard the term “Esmeralda” used at the Four Seasons Hotel, to describe what most guide books call the rainy season here in Costa Rica - an appropriate name however, as the rains feed the lush rainforest and green hills that make Costa Rica such a popular destination.

The ‘green season’ this year has been very pleasant with relatively mild rains and the slightly cooler night temperatures were a welcome change of pace.  However, the afternoon rains have dissipated and the sunny skies are becoming more consistent signaling what some locals call ‘the busy season,” also known as summer here in Costa Rica.

Costa Rica constructionWith summer on our doorstep we expect the few remaining villas at Canto del Mar will soon be sold out.  Four Canto del Mar sales reservations were made last week, so if you’re interested in these two-bedroom villas with panoramic ocean views, now is the time to call and inquire.   Ask about our reservation program if planning a trip in the near future. Prices start at $335,000 USD
