Punta Dominical News - Costa Rica

The camera opens my eyes to a new Dominical.

Stewart WinterIn early December I worked with a photographer to capture some new images for future marketing efforts and to share more of Dominical with our web viewers.  The shots turned out great and in the coming weeks I’m sure you’ll see many of them on the website

The most amazing part for me was the new perspective I gained.  Too often I live in the future and forget to enjoy the moment.  While I live in the jungle and work next to the beach, I sometimes forget to stop and fully take in my surroundings.

Looking at these new photos showed me a completely different side to Dominical – one that I have not yet explored or have passed over too quickly.  As an amateur photographer, it inspired me to get out my new Digital SLR and take some photos of my own.  If you want to slow the world down and enjoy the moment, spend a morning out with your camera in Dominical; you might be amazed at what you see and who you meet.

Promoting People, Food and Community at Dominical’s organic farmer’s market.

Dominical’s organic farmer’s marketFor many North Americans, fresh vegetables and exotic fruit is a big part of the Costa Rican experience.  Every Friday in Dominical from about 7am until 2pm, next to San Clemente, Robert gladly satisfies his regular customers who come to see ‘what’s fresh this week.’

Dominical’s organic farmer’s marketRobert is an organic farmer who grows about 60% of what he sells; the rest comes from Tico farmers.  He supplies many of the Dominical restaurants with his organic goods and you can also find him at the Agricultural Fair in San Isidro on Thursdays, with about 7 other organic farmers.

He tells me essential oils will soon be available from his booth in Dominical and that as long as he is promoting People, Food and Community, he’s happy – definitely something to check out on Fridays.

Big Waves in December challenge surfers.

Surfing in Costa RicaBig swells in December provided the perfect waves for Canto del Mar owner Mike Moore. Mike sent us this great photo. Enjoy!
